Teaching

Derek has been recognized for Excellence in Teaching, his students have been recognized by Downbeat Magazine, and he has presented at the annual conferences for both the Jazz Education Network (JEN) and The Association for Popular Music Education (APME). He is songwriting and singing faculty at both New York University and Berklee College of Music, and gives master classes, private lessons, and workshops around the world.
